Required and Recommended Equipment Checklist


In addition to your boating/camping equipment, groceries, and personal effects: 

 Firepan (required) OR Camp stove or propane gas stove with an on/off dial 

    firepans can be rented from area outfitters; oil change pans purchased from auto parts store are also adequate. Firepan 
    should be large enough to completely contain your wood and fire

 “Groover” or other human waste containment system required (these can be rented from area outfitters; WagBags can be purchased at many sporting goods stores including Grand Junction)

 Water: minimum of 1 gallon per person per day

 Firewood, if planning to have a fire in your firepan

 Personal Flotation Devices (PFDs or “life vests”)(required by Colorado State Law)

 If planning a spring trip, current streamflow data cfs available online at:

 Spare oar/paddle and repair kit (if applicable)(recommended)

 First Aid Kid (recommended)

 Sunscreen, hats, and clothing for changing weather conditions (recommended)
