Oil and Gas Development Record of Decision and Approved RMP Amendment

The Bureau of Land Management has completed the Oil and Gas Development Record of Decision and Approved Resource Management Plan Amendment for the White River Field Office. The Oil and Gas ROD/Approved RMPA will help guide oil and gas development in northwestern Colorado’s Piceance Basin for the next 20 years. The proposed plan advances the Dinosaur Trail Master Leasing Plan, a targeted planning effort aimed at minimizing impacts to the nearby Dinosaur National Monument and other resources.

    The Bureau of Land Management has issued decisions and Finding of No Significant Impacts to gather excess wild horses from within the White River Field Office. The Bureau of Land Management evaluated several alternatives in conjunction with scientific data, range-specific conditions and public input through a formal environmental analysis.     The White River Resource Area is located in northwest Colorado and incorporates parts of Rio Blanco, Moffat, and Garfield Counties.  The Field Office resource area includes approximately 2,675,360 acres of BLM, national forest, national park, state, and privately owned administered lands.  Of this, the BLM administers approximately 1,455,900 BLM surface and subsurface acres, and an additional 365,000 acres of mineral estate underlying state and privately owned surface estate.
