Multiple Use of Public Lands

Public lands in the Uncompahgre Field Office support a variety of both commercial and personal use mining activities. Please stop by the Montrose Public Lands Center on South Townsend Avenue for information on required permits and areas closed to mineral extraction.

Commercially-valuable resources within the UFO include both energy and mineral commodities. Activities related to managing these resources are primarily centered around:

• Coal Leasing
• Oil and Gas
• A variety of locatable, salable, and leasable solid mineral resources
