San Miguel River Flow Guidelines
|
|
250-550 cfs flow - Canoes, kayaks, inflatable kayaks, rafts 12ft or smaller recommended
- River is less "pushy" but rapids become more technical with exposed rocks and narrow passages
- Beware of submerged and exposed rocks
- This flow is good for less experienced rafters and paddlers
550-1200 cfs flow - Canoes, kayaks, inflatable kayaks, rafts 14ft or smaller recommended
- Best level for beginner to intermediate rafters. Challenging for intermediate kayakers.
1200-2000 cfs flow - Canoes, kayaks, inflatable kayaks, rafts 14ft or smaller recommended
- Solid class III with some IV possible
- As flows approach 3,000cfs, the river becomes "pushy" and fast. Many rapids will washout while others will form.
- Beware of overhanging trees and strainers
2000+ cfs flow (rare) - Canoes, kayaks, inflatable kayaks, rafts 14 ft recommended
- RECOMMENDED FOR EXPERT BOATERS ONLY
- CLASS III AND IV
- EXTREMELY FAST AND PUSHY!
- RIVER FLOWS OUT OF ITS BANKS
