Wood products such as fuelwood, fence posts, transplants, and Christmas trees are available for non-commercial sale within designated areas of the Uncompahgre Field Office.  Non-commercial sales of wood products are for personal use only and cannot be resold.

Piñon nuts are a popular food item that can be harvested on public lands.  The roasted nuts of the Colorado Piñon Pine (Pinus edulis) make a tasty snack and can be used in a variety of recipes.  No permit is required if an individual is collecting less than 75 pounds for personal use only.
Commercial wood products are available on a case-by-case basis in designated areas.

CHRISTMAS TREE PERMITS

Permits for cutting Christmas trees in the UFO are expected to go on sale November 23, with the price remaining at $8 per tree. The permits may be purchased at the Montrose Public Lands Center during regular business hours (8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday). The center is located at 2465 S. Townsend Ave. in Montrose.

Commercial and Non-Commercial Use Permits

Both non-commercial and commercial use permits may be purchased at the Uncompahgre Field Office administrative headquarters. (See address below.)  Generally, a minimum purchase of $20.00 is required.
