Beaver Creek Wilderness Study Area

ELEVATION:  6,000 feet – 9,900 feet   LOCATION:  Approximately 14 miles northeast of Cañon City, off of U.S. Hwy 50   ALLOWED USES: hiking, horseback riding   MILES OF TRAIL: 10   TYPES OF TRAIL: hiking and horseback riding   SEASON: Year round   FACILITIES: parking, information kiosk
WATER AVAILABILITY: Beaver Creek but it must be treated before drinking it CAMPING: Dispersed camping is allowed throughout this area on BLM lands. Please camp only in existing sites and do not create new sites or fire rings. Contact the BLM office for information on current fire bans and please follow all fire restrictions.  USGS TOPO MAPS: Big Bull Mountain, Mount Big Chief, Phantom Canyon, Mount Pittsburg DIRECTIONS: From Cañon City head east on Hwy 50 out of town toward the Fremont County Airport (about 5.5 miles). Turn left (north) on Phantom Canyon Road for approximately 1.5 miles, then turn right on County Road 123, take your first left onto Upper Beaver Creek Road (County Road 132). Follow this until it dead ends at the trailhead.  The trail and kiosk are located on the north side of the parking lot.
