Hopemore Mine EA and Plan of Operations

Draft Environmental Assessment

Plan of Operations

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Royal Gorge Field Office has completed a draft Environmental Analysis of Hopemore Mine Plan of Operations (DOI-BLM-CO-200-2013-0066 EA). In 2013, the BLM received a Plan of Operations for the Hopemore Mine, which is an underground mine with existing buildings located east of Leadville, CO. The operator intends to operate the mine for both public tours and the mining of gold, silver, lead, copper, iron and zinc ores. A public comment period will be open from June 2, 2014 through July 2, 2014. Both the plan of operations and EA are available on the website for review or at the BLM Royal Gorge Field Office, 3028 East Main, Canon City, CO 81212. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 A.M. to 4:30 P.M., closed on holidays.

Public comments should be specific to the content of the plan or components of the EA. The most effective comments address specific details in the EA and Plan of Operations, including methodologies, sources of information and components of the EA/Plan of Operations.
