Destiny Mining Proposal Environmental Assessment

Panoramic view of the Destiny Mining claim area southwest of the town of Fairplay, Colorado

Destiny Mining, LLC owns mining claims on an 80-acre BLM public land parcel located southwest of the town of Fairplay, Colorado.  Destiny Mining submitted an application for a proposed hard rock mining (gold and gravel) operation within a 5-acre area of the 80-acre claim.

The BLM has begun an analysis of the permit proposal with an environmental assessment (EA).  A public scoping meeting was recently held in the town of Fairplay on September 22, 2009.  The BLM will be accepting public comments during the official public scoping period of September 24 - October 23, 2009.  All comments received prior to and during the official scoping period will be considered as the BLM develops the alternatives for the EA.

Public comments help identify issues requiring analysis and assist in the development of a range of alternatives.  This is why it is important to provide meaningful comments that detail why or why not you support the proposal.
