Leasable Minerals

Leasable minerals include coal, phosphate, oil, oil shale, gas, and sodium resources on the public domain as designated by the Mineral Leasing Act of 1920 as Amended. The Mineral Leasing Act was amended to include minerals associated with lands acquired by the United States and by the Geothermal Steam Act of 1970 to include geothermal resources. Leasable minerals under federal ownership are available for development through the BLM's leasing program.

Coal

We are currently working on a lease by application for coal located in an area west of Trinidad, Colorado.

Geothermal

We are currently working on leasing geothermal resources in the Chalk Cliff Valley west of Buena Vista, Colorado.

Oil and Gas

Our office manages oil and gas, coal, and geothermal resources as leasable minerals. Most of our oil and gas development is in the Denver-Julesburg Basin northeast of Denver and the Raton Basin in southern Colorado.
