Rabbits Ear Trail  (Rabbit Valley Recreation Area)

ELEVATION CHANGE:   700' (4500' - 5200') 

Using Undeveloped Camp Sites

LOCATION:   25 miles west of Grand Junction

LENGTH:   5 miles round trip 

DIFFICULTY:   Easy to moderate 

APPROXIMATE TIME TO COMPLETE:   3 hours 

FACILITIES:   None 

DRINKING WATER:   None. Plan to pack in a minimum of 1 gallon per person, per day. 

DIRECTIONS:   From Grand Junction take I-70 west to the Rabbit Valley exit (Exit #2), turn left and cross over I-70 in to Rabbit Valley.   NOTE:  Map and information available at the parking area as you first enter Rabbit Valley.  Take first left (frontage road) and travel approximately 4 miles, there will be a small sign on the right hand side of the road marking the parking area for trailhead.  

Rabbits Ear Trail is part of  Rabbit Valley. This 2.5 mile hike to the top climbs 700 feet to one of the most impressive vistas in the Grand Valley. From its terminus overlooking the Colorado River, hikers are welcomed by an awe inspiring, panoramic view stretching from the Grand Mesa to the LaSal Mountains in Utah.
