Colorado River - Ruby/Horsethief Canyons

Loma, CO to Westwater, UT - 25 mile float trip running along the northern boundary of the 75,550 acre Black Ridge Canyons Wilderness.  You will experience beautiful red rock canyons, 1.5 billion year old metamorphic rock, a variety of wildlife and ample opportunities for day hikes up the many canyons.

Streamflow Data/Weather - It is highly recommended that you check the current streamflow data and weather before your boat trip.  Streamflow and weather conditions can change quickly  in western Colorado based on spring runoff and summer downpours.  

Motorized boat travel
is prohibited from the Colorado/Utah state line to Westwater, UT.  The Colorado/Utah border is approximately 20.5 miles down river from the Loma, CO boat launch.

Rules/Requirements for your boat trip

•  Washable, reusable, port-a-potties are required for all overnight trips.  Waste must be emptied in a commode or RV dump.

• 
Firepans are required for all campfires.  Propane or gas stoves are strongly encouraged for camp cooking.  No open campfiresNOTE:  Firepans and/orstoves may be banned during high fire danger periods.

  Camp in established sites only.  Leave no trace, minimum impact rules apply when camping within the NCA.
