The Sand Wash Basin is located northwest of Maybell, Colorado and is easily accessible from Colorado State Highway 318.

  • Activities: Recreation opportunities that are enjoyed in this area include: hunting, rock hounding, and viewing wild horses or other wildlife.
  • Trails: There are numerous dirt roads and trails in the area. It is a good idea to avoid this area with vehicles when the soil is wet or you will find yourself hopelessly mired in the mud.
