Off-Highway Vehicle Use in Northwest Colorado

The Sand Wash Basin is located northwest of Maybell, Colorado and is easily accessible from Colorado State Highway 318.

Activities: While Sand Wash Basin is popular for OHV use and wild horse viewing, it also provides opportunities for hunting, rock-hounding and wildlife viewing.
Trails: There are numerous dirt roads and trails in the area. It is a good idea to avoid this area with vehicles when the soil is wet or you will find yourself hopelessly mired in the mud.
