This area provides interesting scenery with its Ponderosa Pine forest contrasting with red sandstone outcrops.
Access: The area is accessible from Colorado State Highway 318 to Moffat County Roads #12, #10 (through Greystone) and #116 (Douglas Mountain Boulevard, which is a dirt road not always maintained, and is recommended for high clearance vehicles).
Area Activities: There are no developed recreation sites in the Douglas Mountain Area. But the area offers opportunities for visitors to enjoy the following activities: deer and elk hunting, camping, sightseeing, hiking, backpacking and horseback riding.
