General Camping Information

• Most of the public lands are accessible by way of state and county public roads. However, some public lands are scattered and do not have legal public access. Permission from landowners is required to use or cross private lands to reach isolated blocks of public land. It is important that users check out the access to lands they want to use well in advance of their outing.
• Camping is allowed on all public lands unless posted otherwise. Camping is limited to 14 days in any one location.
• Most of the public lands are remote with few, to no, facilities. Users should carry their own drinking water, food, first-aid supplies, tools, etc.
• Off-road vehicle use is allowed on public land areas designated as open. Vehicle use may be restricted for various reasons in certain areas and will be posted as either limited or closed to off-road vehicle use.
• Please pack out all litter and be careful with fire.

Irish Canyon Campground

Location: Moffat County, Colorado
Access: From Maybell, Colorado on U.S. highway 40 turn northwest onto Colorado Highway 318 to Moffat County Road 10N (41 miles) which runs through Irish Canyon (4.5 miles from Colorado 318).
Elevation: 6,650

• Restrooms: 1 pit toilet

• Trash: Pack out all trash

Rocky Reservoir Campground

Location: Diamond Peak, Moffat County, Colorado
Access: The area is accessible from and lies north of Colorado Highway 318 in Browns Park. Vehicle access to the top is available by turning onto Moffat County Road 10N to the north. Travel through Irish Canyon to County Road 72 (approximately 15 miles from Colorado 318). County Road 72 (a gravel road) provides access to the top of Cold Spring Mountain as well as Diamond Peak and Middle Mountain.
