IMPORTANT FISHERMEN INFORMATION

 There are LEAVING PUBLIC LANDS signs upstream and downstream on the river that show the limits of the public water available for fishing. DO NOT fish beyond these signs without permission of the private landowners. The private waters upstream and downstream are often leased to fishing clubs and the landowners may press TRESPASSING charges.

Colorado state law considers the banks and bottom of a river to be private if adjacent land surface is private. You cannot legally fish in private water without the permission of the landowner. Public access does not allow you to walk up or down the river beyond the public land boundary.   Please respect private land and water!

Sunset Fishing Access

Sunset is located about 2 miles west of Parshall on US Hwy 40.  Facilities include a parking area, a trail to the river, and a port-a-pottie during the summer months.  River access is about 1/4 mile long.  NOTE: The Bridge is on private property!

Powers Fishing Access

Powers is located about 3 miles west of Parshall and about 1 mile west of Sunset Fishing Access.  Facilites include a parking area and a port-a-pottie during the summer months.  River access is about 1/8 mile long.

Muddy Creek and Wolford Reservoir

Muddy Creek and Wolford Reservoir offer great fishing for both local fishermen and visitors.  There are many trails and routes that access both of these fishing spots but there are two designated hiking-only trails in Wolford Mountain Area.  For more information please see Muddy Creek Fishing Trail and Wolford Reservoir Trail.

Highway 9 Fishing Access

Hwy 9 Fishing Access is about 1 miles south of Kremmling on the west side of the road just before you cross the Colorado River.  Facilities include a parking lot.  River access is about 1/2 mile long.

Reeder Creek Fishing Access

Reeder Creek is located 5 miles east on County Road 33 (head 1 mile south on Hwy 9 from Kremmling and turn left onto County Road 33).  Facilities include a parking area.  The hike down to the river is 3/4 of a mile, bring sunscreen and water.  River access is about 1/2 mile long.

Barger Gulch Fishing Access

 Barger Gulch is located 3 miles east on County Road 33 (head 1 mile south on Hwy 9 from Kremmling and turn left onto County Road 33).  Facilities include a parking area.  River access is about 1/8 mile long.

Confluence Recreation Area

The Confluence Recreation Area is located on Trough Road (Grand County Road 1).  From Kremmling head south on Hwy 9 for about 1 mile, turn west onto Trought Road.  Go about 1/2 mile until you see a BLM sign on the right for Gore Canyon put-in.  Turn right and go about 1 mile until you see a parking area.  There are three little segments (a total of 3/4 mile) of BLM land along this road intermixed with private property.  The first driveway on the left is private property- DO NOT PARK HERE.  Make sure you know where you are and respect private property. 

Blue River Fishing Access

The Blue River Fishing Access is located on Trough Road (Grand County Road 1).  From Kremmling travel south on Highway 9 approximately 1 mile.  Turn west (right) on Trough Road and travel approximately 2 miles.  On the left side of the road there is a small dirt road that has a drop gate.  Travel on this road for approximately 1/2 mile.  There is limited parking on either side of the road.  DO NOT BLOCK GATE, this is a private driveway that is used year round.  The trail leading down the to river drops down to the left.

Pumphouse Recreation Area

Pumphouse is a developed recreation area with toilets, parking, camping, boat launches, and picnic tables.  The Gore Canyon Trail provides excellent access to up-river fishing from Pumphouse.  Down-river of Pumphouse on river left (south-east side) is all BLM lands along the river until you get to Radium Recreation Area. 

Gore Canyon Ranch Fishing Access

Gore Canyon Ranch is located on Trough Road (Grand County Road 1).  From Kremmling head south on Hwy 9 for about 1 mile, turn west onto Trough Road.  Travel about 11 miles (go past the Pumphouse Recreation Area turn, it is the next right) and turn northwest onto County Road 102.  Park near the gate--do NOT block gate-- hike down to the river from here.  This fishing access is in between Pumphouse and Radium.  All of the land in between these recreation areas is public along the river.  If you intend to hike away from the river, please know where private property is and respect it.

Radium Recreation Site

Gore Canyon Ranch is located on Trough Road (Grand County Road 1).  From Kremmling head south on Hwy 9 for about 1 mile, turn west onto Trough Road.  Travel about 14 miles and turn right (northwest) on County Road

Strawberry Fishing Access

Strawberry Area provides one of the few public access points along the Fraser River, which is predominately bordered by private land.  The Fraser River Access Trail allows access to approximately .75 miles of the Fraser River, which is a popular fishing area in Grand County.  Rainbow trout, German brown trout, and brook trout can all be found in the river.
