Hiking in the Strawberry Area
Hikers and horseback riders have unrestricted access to Strawberry Area just outside of Tabernash, Colorado. This area provides many unnamed trails (many of which are game trails) and one designated foot only trail that leads down to the Fraser River. Strawberry Creek Road #2751- Road Closure 4/15 to 6/1 (just north of the Fraser River Access Trail Head)
Hurd Peak Road #2765- Road Closure 4/15 to 6/1
Suggested Equipment for Hiking in the Strawberry Area
* Bring at least 1 quart of water per person (usaully adequate for short, part-day hikes)
* Food
* Layers of clothing such as t-shirt, long sleeve shirt, and fleece (days can range from below 30 degrees to over 90 degrees)
* Rain gear
* Sunscreen, sunhat, and sunglasses
* First Aid kit
* Insect repellent
* Day pack
* If snowshoeing or hiking during cold weather, additonal safety gear is suggested
