Winter Ridge Trail

HIGHLIGHTS
Trail climbs from the ridge to above Blue Hill to Castle Peak through mountain brush and spruce/fir/aspen
forested land. The scenery is outstanding, with broad panoramas.

Recreation

ACCESS
From I-70 at Wolcott go north on the Colorado Highway 131 to the Colorado River Road (Eagle county 301) about two miles west of McCoy. Go about 8 miles west on the River Road to Blue Hill Junction and go south about 2 miles to trail head. The trail connects to other trails in the Castle Peak Wilderness Study Area. Use limited to hiking and horseback riding; motorized and mechanized use is prohibited.

Undeveloped parking areas and primitive campsites, signs.

DISTANCE/ELEVATION
About 3 miles to other trails within the Wilderness Study Area, over 15 miles of other trails in the area. Elevation ranges from 8,000 to over 10,000 feet.
