Highlights: The trail follows the east Canyon Creek and Keyser Creek up to the Flat Tops. This canyon is narrow and has steep sided cliffs. It is forested with spruce/fir and aspens trees. The area offers a beautiful mountain setting with limestone cliffs and forested slopes which provide for outstanding sightseeing opportunities. The scenery is outstanding, and wildlife-watching opportunities are excellent. Use is limited to hiking and horseback riding. The trail is approximately 3 miles to the National Forest Boundary. The trail does continue for about two miles to Blue Lake and beyond that to Monument Lake area. Warning! Trail is rocky and steep. Creek crossing may be impassable in the spring. 

Type of use: Use is limited to hiking and horseback riding. Motorized vehicles are prohibited.

Access: From I-70 take the Canyon Creek Road exit. Travel north about 2 miles and turn right on road up East Canyon Creek. The pavement ends 2 miles up and the road becomes rough and narrow. The trailhead is near the crossing over East Canyon Creek. Access across private land on a narrow easement the first half mile, please stay on the trail.

Facilities: Limited parking (1 or 2 passenger vehicles) along county road. Trailer parking is at the switchback before the cattle guard approximately 3 miles up the county road.
