This is a limited use area with travel permitted on designated roads and trails only.  A staging area is provided for off loading of off-highway vehicles.  Please be considerate of others and do not block the ramp.  Beautiful canyon country, with large expanses of slick-rock are just some of the popular attractions in this area.   In the spring, the area is bountiful with water filled potholes and waterfalls.   A 4 x 4 trail will take you down through Rough Canyon and then into Bangs Canyon.  One side trail leads to a scenic overlook of the Gunnison River.  NOTE:   Access to Hwy 141 through Bangs Canyon does not currently exist.

Because this area is undergoing change with the implementation of the Bangs Canyon Management Plan, an online map is currently unavailable.  Please stop by the Grand Junction Field Office for the latest information and thanks for your patience as we work to provide sustainable, resource-friendly recreation opportunities.
