C = CATCHABLE:   Hatchery reared fish that exceed 8 inches in length.  Stocking catchables is a management tool that creates and sustains fishable populations in waters receiving heavy angler use.  These fish, mostly rainbow trout, are stocked annually on a regular basis.  Low elevation lakes are stocked with catchable rainbows only in the spring and fall to provide trout fishing while cool water temperatures permit.

S = SUB-CATCHABLE:  Fish 2 - 8 inches long that are hatchery reared or obtained from other waters.  Sub-catchables are stocked in waters where they can be expected to grow larger to provide fishable populations.  These fish may or may not be stocked annually and are often species that are too costly to rear to larger sizes in hatcheries.

N = NATIVE:  Fish species present in the Colorado River Basin prior to introductions by man.

I = INTRODUCED:  Fish species, including native species, introduced into specific waters via man's activities including past stocking, water diversion, bait-buckets and escapement from other waters.

E = ENDANGERED:  Native fish species threatened with extinction.
