ELEVATION:  8000' 

LOCATION:  20 miles southwest of Grand Junction 

SEASON:   May 15  - Oct  15 (opening date may be delayed due to weather)  NOTE:  Entire area, to include day use area is closed from Oct 15 - opening date)   Biting gnats are prevalent from late May - late July.  Mosquitos are prevalent from early Spring - late Summer

CAMP SITES:   14 single family sites and 2 group sites 

CAMPING FEES:  $5.00 per night.   Group sites, $5.00 per family, per night 
                            NOTE:  No camping fees charged from  Oct 1 - Oct 15
                            Day use area is free, no overnight camping in this area

RESERVATIONS:  N/A, first come - first serve

MAXIMUM LENGTH OF STAY:  14 days 

FACILITIES:  Tables (some with disabled access), grills, toilets (handicap accessible) 

DRINKING/STREAM WATER:   Drinking water (spring water) available from opening date - 15 Oct 

DIRECTIONS:  From Grand Junction  go west on Grand Avenue, cross over two bridges, at the next stop light turn left on to Monument Road, following the signs to the Colorado National Monument.  Turn left on to "D" Rd.  Stay on D Rd until you come to the "No Outlet" sign, go right, you are now on Little Park Rd. Travel 10 miles on Little Park Rd until it meets up with DS Rd.  Go left on to DS road and travel a little over a mile to 16.5 Rd at the Glade Park Store intersection, turn left onto 16 1/2 Rd, travel south, 6 1/2 miles, Mud Springs Recreation site, is on your right.

 


ATTRACTIONS:  This area is in a high mountain meadow and aspen grove. There's fishing at nearby Enoch Lake or U.S. Forest Service managed Fruita Reservoirs. With summer temperatures running 10 - 20 degrees cooler than the lower elevations within the Field Office boundaries, it's a great place to get away from the summer heat.
