Loma, CO to Westwater, UT - 25 mile float trip running along the northern boundary of the 75,550 acre Black Ridge Canyons Wilderness. You will experience beautiful red rock canyons, 1.5 billion year old metamorphic rock, a variety of wildlife and ample opportunities for day hikes up the many canyons. It is highly recommended that you check the current streamflow data and weather before your boat trip. Streamflow and weather conditions can change quickly in western Colorado based on spring runoff and summer downpours. Motorized boat travel is prohibited from the Colorado/Utah state line to Westwater, UT. The Colorado/Utah border is approximately 20.5 miles down river from the Loma, CO boat launch.
Gunnison River - Escalante to Redlands Dam - beautiful scenery, hidden rock art and solitude bring visitors to this 800' deep canyon. During the 35 mile tril there is ample ;opportunity for hiking, wildlife viewing and exploring. A popular stop alongthe way is Bridgeport - primitive camping and a hike up Big Dominguez Canyon offers an opportunity to go exploring for hidden rock art and enjoy the waterfall. It is highly recommended that you check the current streamflow data and weather before your boat trip.
Dolores River - Gateway to Dewey Bridge - Along this section of river you will encounter Class II and III rapids, with State Line Rapid being a class IV and should be scouted or portaged. A very short season of raftable water limits the use on this section of river. Streamflow data is not available for the Gateway to Dewey Bridge section of the Dolores River.
