Designated Trails

North Fruita Desert - 8 miles northwest of Grand Junction.  83 miles with all trails combined (Chutes, Edge Loop, Frontside, Prime Cut - Joes Ridge, Zippity)
     Chutes - 9.5 mile loop, moderate
     Edge Loop - 27.5 mile loop, difficult
    
Frontside - 22 miles out & back, moderate
     Prime Cut - Joes Ridge - 8.5 miles, 
easy to moderate
     Zippity - 6.3 mile loop, easy - moderate
Cactus Park - 18 miles southwest of Grand Junction, 8.4 miles round trip, moderate
Gunny Loop - 2.6 miles southwest of Grand Junction, 6 miles round trip, moderate.
Lunch Loop - 2.6 miles southwest of Grand Junction, 7.5 miles round trip, moderate to difficult.
Ribbon Loop
- 2.6 miles southwest of Grand Junction, 8.4 miles round trip, difficult.
Tabeguache Trail - 2 miles southwest of Grand Junction, 142 miles one way, easy to strenuous.
Grand Valley OHV Area
- Just outside Grand Junction city limits, 17 square miles of barren trails and hills.  

 

Understanding Travel Management Designations
  • mountain biker"closed" (no biking allowed)
  • "designated roads and trails" (within a specific area, with numerous roads and trails, only specific trails are open to biking)
  • "existing roads and trails" (pre-existing, well defined single and two track trails)

Easy - Flat surface with small uphill climbs.
Moderate - Small to medium uphill climbs.
Difficult
  -  Medium to large uphill climbs.  Some technical areas to maneuver through.
Strenuous - Medium to large uphill climbs.  Technical areas to maneuver through.  Bike may need to be carried at times.
