This clinker baked gravel size sandstone is suitable for roadbase or landscaping purposes. The loose gravel can be shoveled directly into the back of your pickup or trailer.  Because of the weak red coloring and unsorted size, this gravel is a low quality decorative rock.

Directions:  From Grand Junction take I-70 west to the Fruita Exit.  At the off ramp go right to Hwy 6 & 50.  Turn left, on to Hwy 6 & 50 to16 Road.  Go right on to 16 Road and drive approximately 17 miles to the Bookcliffs.  Turn right on to a short access trail that crosses Big Salt Wash which leads directly to the community pit.
