Bridgeport Lava Rock Common Use Area Map

Decorative lava (basalt) rock is used for landscaping.   Lava rock can be gathered at the Bridgeport Lava Rock common use area for $15.00 per ton.  To get there:  Travel south on Highway 50 from Grand Junction to the turnoff (road 39.50) about 11 miles south of Whitewater.  Turn right (west) on to a graded dirt road.  Travel 0.7 miles to the site, located north and south of the road.  This decorative landscape rock consists of various sized black basalt boulders, partially covered with lichen (moss rock).  There is a good supply of boulders net to the access road, many are small enough to pick up by hand.
