The adobe/fill material community pit consists of a 200 square foot area where the topsoil has been scraped off and piled along the sides, do not remove the stockpiled topsoil, it will be used for future reclamation of the site.  

Mancos Shale clay can be made into adobe bricks or used as fill material.  The material is fairly hard and should be broken up with tools  prior to loading.  

Directions:   Take  Highway 6 & 50 to 21 Rd. Travel north on 21 Rd for approximately six miles.  Immediately after crossing the Highline Canal, look for the site on the right. Map
