Help Protect the Past!

BLM-managed public lands in the Grand Junction Field Office have many fine examples of rock art and other cultural resources that reflect Colorado's rich archaeological heritage. Well-intentioned visitors go to archaeological sites and sometimes cause lasting damage because they don't know how to behave in these fragile places. Make sure this doesn't happen to you! Collecting artifacts, digging in historical sites, or vandalizing rock art is not only illegal under the Archaeological Resources Protection Act (ARPA), but destroys valuable data, shows disrespect for Native American and early American heritage, and robs other visitors of the opportunity to enjoy these resources. Please do your part to help preserve rock art and other archaeological treasures by not touching or otherwise disturbing them!
