Gunnison Basin Travel Plan

Record of Decision (ROD) Signed June 28, 2010

The Gunnison Field Office of the BLM worked with the Gunnison National Forest and the public to develop and update a transportation plan for the Gunnison Basin.  The goal of this plan is to identify and manage a system of roads and trails that provides a variety of recreation experiences for the public, meets the needs of the agencies to manage the land and its resources, minimizes negative impacts to other resources and is within our capability to manage and maintain.  The plan describes which routes are open for use by motorized vehicles and mountain bikes, which uses are allowed on each route and whether there are any restrictions on the seasons of use for each route.  The plan focuses on use in the Spring, Summer and Fall.  Winter transportation decisions will be made in a separate process at a later date.

The BLM and the Forest Service made final decisions on Gunnison Basin Federal Lands Travel Management. Each agency's decision is documented in a separate Record of Decision (ROD) available to the public.
