The Signal Peak Loop trail climbs from the Western State College campus along a spur of the Colorado Trail. It traverses an undulating ridge to a saddle just west of Signal Peak, then descends along a dirt road to Highway 50. The highway offers a wide shoulder for cyclists for the 1.5 miles back to Gunnison and the trailhead. The Signal Peak Loop is not signed.

This trail begins on the eastern edge of Gunnison just behind the Western State College campus.
