The Lost Canyon Loop Trail climbs from the town of Gunnison along a spur of the Colorado Trail. It traverses an undulating ridge past Signal Peak and climbs up a steep rocky section to a long mesa which provides relatively flat riding and good views for several miles. You will enter aspen groves near the upper end and pass through several gates (Please leave the gates as you find them). When you intersect a dirt road, turn left for a short jog to connect with the well maintained Lost Canyon Road and head back to Gunnison. The Lost Canyon Loop Trail is not signed. Endurance is the major factor due to length.
Access
The Loop begins on the edge of Gunnison just behind the Western State College campus. It proceeds about 10 miles to the northeast and then loops back to Gunnison. Ample parking is available near the trailhead and a set of stairs enables you to cross the fence to access the trail.
