Winter Ridge Trail

HIGHLIGHTS
Trail climbs from the ridge to above Blue Hill to Castle Peak through mountain brush and spruce/fir/aspen
forested land. The scenery is outstanding, with broad panoramas.

ACCESS
From I-70 at Wolcott, go north on Highway 131 to Colorado River Road (Eagle County 301) about 2 miles west of McCoy. Go about 8 miles west on the River Road to Blue Hill Junction, then go south about 2 miles to the trailhead. The trail connects to other trails in the Castle Peak Wilderness Study Area. Use is limited to hiking and horseback riding; motorized and mechanized use is prohibited.

FACILITIES
Undeveloped parking areas and primitive campsites.

DISTANCE/ELEVATION
About 3 miles to other trails within the Wilderness Study Area, more than 15 miles of other trails in the area. Elevation ranges from 8,000 to higher than 10,000 feet.
