Gunnison River Recreation Area encompasses the lower reaches of the Gunnison River, past its confluence with the North Fork. This portion of Gunnison Gorge National Conservation Area features fairly gentle waters with only occasional riffles. It is an ideal location for visitors to enjoy non-technical boating. Cottonwood groves provide shade along the river banks, while scenic bluffs and canyons rise above the valley.
