Durango Recreation Area
 

Elk

Durango Recreation Area includes five discontiguous units that encompass 6,300 acres of land adjoining the town of Durango. The mountains and plateaus here are used for a wide range of recreational activities. There are plenty of hiking and mountain biking trails, and mountain bikes can be rented at shops in town. This recreation area is also an excellent place for viewing wildlife such as elk and deer.
