National Public Lands Day this year is a Fee-Free Day

Secretary Dirk Kempthorne has designated National Public Lands Day (Saturday, September 27, 2008) as a “fee-free” day for visitors to all Interior bureau recreation and visitor sites. Site entrance/standard amenity and individual day-use fees will be waived on that day; however, other fees, such as those for group day use, overnight camping, and cabin rentals, will remain in effect. In addition to the fee-free day on Saturday, September 27, a fee-free day for all visitors will be instituted this year on Sunday, September 28, 2008, to honor newly naturalized citizens.
