Location: The McIntyre Hills WSA is located in Fremont County, approximately 20 miles west of Cañon City.
Flora & Fauna: Vegetation consists mainly of pinyon pine, juniper, ponderosa pine, Douglas fir, and riparian areas along drainages. Fauna includes bald eagles, mule deer, elk, bighorn sheep, black bear, mountain lion, bobcat, coyote, gray fox, and wild turkey.
Recreation: Activities include hiking, backpacking, horseback riding, hunting, and photography. For more information, visit the Recreation page. Please note that though unconfined recreation is encouraged in wilderness study areas, specific types of recreation may be barred from a specific area to prevent degradation of natural conditions.
