Abstract:
Three arc second Digital Elevation Model (DEM) for Colorado. Original data obtained from USGS 1:250,000 1 degree by 1 degree DEM tiles. The final painted relief map depicts the entire state of Colorado. Cell size resampled during projection to 100 meter. TIF file created using an AML originally written by Jeffery S. Nighbert, BLM Oregon State Office, and modified for Colorado by Richard Watson, BLM Colorado State Office.
Purpose: Small scale portrayal of elevation or shaded relief.

The ultimate sources of the data used to create this data set are USGS 1:250,000 3 arc-second DEMs. All or part of the 32 DEM tiles are needed to create a contiguous coverage of Colorado. The individual DEMs were converted to ARC/INFO lattices (with the ARC LATTICEMERGE command), projected (PROJECT), and clipped to the Colorado State Border digitized from a 1:500,000 State Base map (USGS base) using (LATTICECLIP), and stored as an ARC/INFO grid.

Data set re-projected from UTM13 NAD27 to UTM NAD83 using ArcInfo (tm) AML. The DOQQ/Image/MrSID image re-project utility was used. Please refer to <http://bard.wr.usgs.gov/index.html>; rvlugo@zorro.wr.usgs.gov for further information concerning this AML.
