BLM Colorado does not manage any Burros at this time so there are no Burro data in this data set. HMAs have been through the planning process and a decision has been made where HAs have not been through the planning process. Status of HAs will change as the planning process progresses. This data set includes compiled 1:24,000 scale boundaries of HMAs and HAs that make up the Herd Management Areas and Herd Areas in Colorado. Data polygon were originally digitized using (ADS) Automated Digitizing System. This data set was converted to (MOSS) Mapping Statistical System and then converted to Arc/Info using ESRI's MOSSARC command. Some of the original (individual) 24K quad coverages could have been converted to Arcinfo from ADS using translators that BLM produced. Individual coverages were merged into a single coverage. The file was checked for polygon topology, dangles, and slivers. Any errors of this kind were corrected before creating the E00 ArcInfo interchange file. Purpose: To illustrate Herd Management Areas and Herd Areas for the State of Colorado and for BLM (RMP) Resource Management Plan analysis and decision making. Supplemental_Information: Original data was located at each BLM Field Office in Colorado. GIS specialist at BLM Colorado State Office (CSO) quality checked data and merged the individual Arcinfo "coverages" into a Statewide Coverage. Process_Description:: Data Attributes Standards Applied: BLM Colorado State Office GIS Specialist was tasked with bringing data set to National HMA and HA attribute standards. Data fields were added and populated to follow national standards. HMA and HA Names and Administrative Codes provided by BLM Colorado Field Offices and inserted into data set by BLM Colorado State Office GIS Specialist.
The "Acres" field was added and calculated while the data set coverage was still in UTM13 NAD27 projection. The conversion factor user was Area(Meters)/4047 = Acres.
