Abstract:

This GIS layer was originally aquired from the BLM Montrose Field Office, Colorado on October 5, 2000. Data compiled at 24,000 scale and captured at 24,000 scale. Data was originally captured using Arcinfo.

Purpose:

The data is inteneded to show the administrative boundary for the Canyons of the Ancients, BLM National Monument. The data is intended to be used for resource planning and land planning decisions.

Data attribute definitions updated to June 12, 2002 National Standards for National Landscape Conservation System GIS Boundaries in both the .aat and .pat coverage tables. Metadata imported from previous coverage.

The Fields "NM_DEF_FEATURE" and "NM_COORD_SOURCE" added to the coverage .aat file. These fields are reserved for the description of what physical, man-made, or thematic feature the boundaries follow and the source of that boundary.

Data converted to a ArcGIS GeoDataBase. Data stored in ArcSDE Informix. Data will be maintained and edited in SDE, then it will be exported out to shapefiles for users to access. The .aat and .pat Feature Attribute Tables converted to arc and polygon feature classes within a Multi User GeoDataBase. All attributes maintained from original coverage model and field descriptions stayed the same.

Polygon Feature Classes:

The "NM_CASEFILE" field contains to the serialized case file number for each National Monument Area. At this time Colorado has not assigned a serialized case file number so the field has been left blank.

The "NM_NAME" field contains the name given to the polygon. In this case there is only one value, and that value is: Canyons of the Ancients N.M.

The "NM_STATE" field refers to the administrative State for the National Monument Area. In Colorado's case the value should be "CO".

Arc Feature Classes:

The "NM_DEF_FEATURE" refers to the defining geographic feature description that the geometry follows.

The "NM_COORD_SOURCE" refers to the accuracy of the source material used when creating the geometry.
