FIELD NOTES ARE EDITED AND PLATS ARE DRAFTED

Once the surveyor has completed the preparation of the field notes and true line plat, the disk containing the field notes is given to an editorial assistant for grammatical, punctuation, spelling, and basic format errors.

The official plat is generated by the plat drafting unit from the surveyor's true line plat and transferred to a disk medium utilizing automated platting proceures (CAD system).

Chapter 9 of the Manual of Surveying Instructions(1973), outlines the requirements and technical specifications for the plats.
