THE CORNER IS MONUMENTED

The final step of the field work is monumentation, which is intended to:

  • Establish a permanent marking of the lines
  • Fix corner positions to locate the surveyed lands
  • Perpetuate found or identified corners
  • As an aid to permanence, monuments constructed of durable material are utilized and a penalty imposed to deter possible tampering.
