A CONTROL SURVEY IS PERFORMED

The cadastral survey is connected to the National Geodeic Survey Network allowing a direct relationship to other surveys and mapping programs.

The Bureau of Land Management is in the process of building a Land Information System consisting of:

  • Land and Resource Information System (LRIS)
  • Automated Resource Data System (ARDS)
  • Geographic Coordinate Data Base (GCDB)
  • The GCDB, when completed, will contain:
  • Coordinates of every Public Land Survey System (PLSS) corner that has been established
  • Physical description of the monument
  • Historical information
  • Other data elements pertinent to the corner
  • Through the PLSS and GCDB, an automated parcel-based Land Information System with multiple layers (made up of PLSS, LRIS, and ARDS data) is achieved.
