- The need for a survey is determined
- A request for survey is issued
- The request is received and acted upon
- A surveyor is assigned
- Additional research is performed
- The survey is executed
- The corner is monumented
- A control survey is performed
- Field notes and true line plat are prepared
- Field notes are edited and plats are drafted
- The notes and plats are reviewed
- The survey is approved
- The plat and field notes are filed officially
- The survey becomes a permanent public land record
