Learn Before you Burn PSAs
The Rocky Mountain Information/Education Committee, under Rocky Mountain Coordination Group, is responsible for the 'Learn Before You Burn' debris burning campaign. It is one of the leading human-caused wildfire ignition sources common to all five states within Region 2 (SD, WY, NE, KA, CO).
Committee members include representatives from the Bureau of Land Management, Bureau of Indian Affairs, the United States Forest Service, the National Park Service, the Rocky Mountain Area Coordination Center, the South Dakota Wildland Fire Suppression Division, Wyoming State Forest Service, Kansas State Forest Service, Nebraska State Forest Service, and Rural Fire Protection Districts.
These PSAs are available for any entity to use. Colorado BLM and USFS provided funding to develop the radio PSAs. Garceworks Production Company was contracted for production.
The Rocky Mountain Area Fire & Aviation Management lists US Forest Service, Park Service, Bureau of Indian Affairs, and US Fish and Wildlife Service fire restrictions.
The Colorado Office of Emergency Management lists counties with fire restrictions. Or you may contact the county directly for information on their restrictions. The County Sheriff's office is your best source for local fire restriction information. OEM also compiles a list of Wildfire Situation Reports. The Colorado State Forest Service also supplies large fire status and other information.
