The East Douglas Creek ACEC is designated to protect important, biologically diverse plant communities, riparian habitat, and Colorado River cutthroat trout habitat. The Cathedral Bluffs Meadow-rue (Thalictrum heliophilum), a BLM sensitive plant, is also found within the East Douglas Creek ACEC.
