Blue Hill ACEC

Blue Hill

Location:    Northwest District, Colorado River Valley Field Office

Size:    3,722 acres

Designated:   1984 Glenwood Springs Land Use Plan

Land Manager:    Bureau of Land Management, Colorado River Valley Field Office

The 3,700-acre Blue Hill Archaeological District was designated as an ACEC because it is a sensitive area for cultural and Native American resources. It is also classified as a critical watershed because of the severe erosion hazard of area soils and the negative impact they could have on cultural resources and water quality.  The area was nominated to the National Register of Historic Places as an Archaeological District.
