Adobe Badlands

 

Location:    Southwest District, Uncompahgre Field Office, Delta County

Size:    6,783 acres

Designated:   1989 Uncompahgre Land Use Plan

Land Manager:    Bureau of Land Management, Uncompaghre Field Office


The Adobe Badlands is both an Outstanding Natural Area and an ACEC, which consists of wind and water eroded Mancos Shale hills and flats. The area's soils are highly erodible and saline, resulting in high sediment loads and very saline runoff. The area also contains known and potential habitat for several federally listed endangered and threatened plant species.
