Areas of Critical Environmental Concern

In Colorado, the BLM identifies and manages Areas of Critical Environmental Concern (ACEC) through the planning process under the Federal Land Policy and Management Act of 1976 and related guidance. The BLM manages these special areas for scientific, scenic, ecological, biological, geological, historical and prehistoric values for public benefit.
