More Details on the Little Henderson Fire Burning in Gunnison County (04-08-12)



Gunnison, Colo. – The new wildfire burning in Gunnison County has been named the Little Henderson Fire and is burning in the North Fork of Little Henderson Creek Gunnison near County Road 265, approximately seven miles north of Hwy 133. The fire is estimated at 50-60 acres. There are no structures threatened at this time. Fire crews from Paonia Fire Department, Gunnison County Sheriff’s Office and the Montrose Interagency Fire Management Unit (MIFMU) are on scene. A type 4 engine and type 2 hand crew previously assigned to the MM 125 Fire are en route to the Little Henderson Fire to assist with the suppression effort. The fire is burning on both private lands and National Forest System lands. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Fire Stats:

Little Henderson Fire: 50-60 acres, 0% containment, no structures threatened, cause under investigation
MM 125 Fire: 125 acres, 80% containment, no structures threatened, cause under investigation
Brush Creek Fire: 31 acres, 100% containment, human-caused fire
Ohio Creek Fire: 69 acres, 100% containment, cause under investigation
