BLM Kremmling seeks comment on 19 commercial recreation permits
KREMMLING, Colo. – The Bureau of Land Management’s Kremmling Field Office is seeking public comment on 19 commercial Special Recreation Permit renewal applications.
BLM issues commercial SRPs to provide recreation businesses the opportunity to operate on BLM public lands, to provide the public the opportunity to use a guided service for recreation activities, to implement recreation management decisions and to ensure a fair return to the public for commercial use of public lands. The 19 SRP applicants are:
· Mighty Upper Photos –commercial photography on the Upper Colorado River
· Breckenridge Outfitters - guided fishing trips on the Upper Colorado River
· Summit Fly Fishing LLC - guided fishing trips on the Upper Colorado River
· Adventures in Whitewater – guided rafting and fishing trips on the Upper Colorado River
· Red Tail Rafting LLC – guided rafting trips on the Upper Colorado River
· Liquid Descent - guided rafting trips on the Upper Colorado River
· Gore Range Adventures Inc. dba Lakota Guides - guided rafting trips on the Upper Colorado River
· Paddle Colorado – guided rafting trips on the Upper Colorado River
· Sage Outdoor Adventures – guided rafting trips on the Upper Colorado River
· Wide Open Adventures – guided rafting trips on the Upper Colorado River
· Blazing Adventures LLC – guided rafting trips on the Upper Colorado River
· Aspen Canyon Ranch – horseback rides and big game hunting and outfitting in Grand County
· Drowsy Water Ranch – horseback rides and big game hunting and outfitting in Grand County
· Bar Lazy J – horseback rides and jeep tours in Grand County
· High Country Trails – horseback rides and big game hunting and outfitting in Grand County
· Full Curl Outfitting and Guide Service – big game and mountain lion hunting and outfitting in Grand County and Jackson County
· Colorado Blue Outfitters – big game hunting and outfitting in Grand County
· Platt’s Guide and Outfitters – big game and mountain lion hunting and outfitting in Jackson County
· Hester Hunting Company – big game and mountain lion hunting and outfitting in Grand County
BLM is seeking public comment regarding each applicant’s safety history, conflicts that have been associated with the applicants or their employees while operating on public lands, or any other information that would be useful to the BLM as it considers the applications. BLM will accept comments through Nov. 30, 2010.

The BLM manages more than 245 million acres of public land, the most of any Federal agency. This land, known as the National System of Public Lands, is primarily located in 12 Western states, including Alaska. The BLM also administers 700 million acres of sub-surface mineral estate throughout the nation. In Fiscal Year (FY) 2011, recreational and other activities on BLM-managed land contributed more than $130 billion to the U.S. economy and supported more than 600,000 American jobs. The Bureau is also one of a handful of agencies that collects more revenue than it spends. In FY 2012, nearly $5.7 billion will be generated on lands managed by the BLM, which operates on a $1.1 billion budget. The BLM's multiple-use mission is to sustain the health and productivity of the public lands for the use and enjoyment of present and future generations. The Bureau accomplishes this by managing such activities as outdoor recreation, livestock grazing, mineral development, and energy production, and by conserving natural, historical, cultural, and other resources on public lands.
