Reservoir Cleanup Scheduled April 7, 2009 Contact: David Boyd, BLM Public Affairs Specialist, (970) 947-2832 Greg Noss, High Country 4 Wheelers, (970) 963-6084 Volunteers Needed for Fravert Reservoir Clean-upGlenwood Springs, Colo. – Volunteers are needed April 25 for a community clean-up of the popular Fravert Reservoir area north of Rifle. High Country 4 Wheelers, the Bureau of Land Management, Garfield County, Rocky Mountain Environmental Concerns and other local businesses and off-highway vehicle groups are sponsoring the clean-up. Nearly 100 people have attended previous clean-ups in this area, a popular area for off-highway vehicle enthusiasts on Hubbard Mesa. They removed nearly 5 tons of garbage and debris. "While this is a popular recreation area, its proximity to town unfortunately also makes it a popular dumping site," said Steve Bennett, Acting Glenwood Springs BLM Field Manager. "We are very grateful to the many volunteers willing to donate their Saturday to help keep this area clean." Volunteers will meet at 9 a.m. at the Fravert Reservoir parking lot, across the street from the U.S. Forest Service Rifle Ranger Station on County Rd. 244. The clean-up should be complete by 3 p.m. Volunteers should bring a sack lunch and come dressed in long pants, sturdy work shoes and leather gloves. Additional rakes and shovels will be helpful as well. For further information contact Greg Noss, (970) 963-6084, Dan Alvis (970) 625-2364, Bryan Dorr (970) 625-9049. --BLM--
